Bernie Sanders, United States Senator from Vermont, is an Independent politican running to become the Democratic Party's nominee for President in the 2016 US presidental election. He is a Democratic socialist with a record of public service going back to 1981. He is the longest-serving Independent congressman in American history. Consistently progressive, Sanders' values embody the highest aspirations of the 60s - anti-war, anti-authoritarian, pro-civil rights, women's rights, LBGT rights, racial equality, universal education and health care. We  *can* have nice things, but only if we demand it - and Bernie gets that.
